The colour palette that has been used is monochromatic because the colours go from the scale white to black however there are shades of brown in it and it also has a low saturation. The focal point of this is the damaged/ crashed helicopter. The image depicts that a helicopter had crashed into the building causing a hole to appear in the ceiling and it has been a long time since then as the helicopter has started to rust. It also shows that there is a fallen society. The atmosphere of this image is tense and suspicious because there is a possibility that someone might be there. The atmosphere is also cold, dim and empty because the has been deserted and the is a snow storm occurring. The meaning of this is that it's a worn down and damaged building that has continually gotten worse over the years. The first thing i notice about this image is that the hole in the ceiling and how the snow is coming in because it brings light into the picture. I am drawn to this picture because how much detail there is and how the scale is from black to white but the colours are manipulated so it doesn't all look the same and it looks very realistic.
Rule of Thirds
Concept art Environment sketches
Golden Spiral
Where the spiral ends is usually the focal point and the dominant form follows, this is known as the golden spiral. The spiral can help show us the lines leading and indicating towards the focal point.

On these two environment concept art pieces i have highlight the Dominant form which is in red, the Sub-dominant form which is in yellow and the Subordinate form which is in green.
I have created an industrial concept art sketch and i have used the rule of thirds grid and the golden spiral. This is because the golden spiral is helping me locate where my focal point will be placed in my piece and the rule of thirds grid helps me to map out the places where the action should happen (which is on the cross hairs).

Analysis of Concept art
Here i have drawn the leading lines that show the focal point.
In this lesson i have created the first step of my final design. To create this piece i used Photoshop and i used the rule of thirds grid. The Rule of thirds grid was suitable for my work because it helps to show me where the cross hairs are so i know where the points of action can take place. In this lesson i used techniques such as perspective on the mountains because it helps to give a 3D feel. For this piece i should of completed the quick sketch before putting in all the details. This lesson is different to last lessons because in this lesson i finally decided what i was going draw for my final piece.

Perspective
In today's lesson i learned how to do perspective and what is it.

Evalutation
For this project we had to create a 2D concept art
environment and I decided to design a forest environment because I love the aesthetic
of nature and its beauty. The material I used for this project was Photoshop because
it was very beneficial to the work I had to produce. This is because with
Photoshop I am able to rub out my mistakes easily and without creating smudges,
also I do not have to wait for it try dry and finally when I was in the process
of developing my final piece I was able to add layers so I could refine my
work. I also used a lot of technical skills in my piece such as the rule of
thirds gird and the golden spiral so I was able to easily spot where I would
place my focal point and then I could think about how I would place my leading
lines. Using the golden spiral also helped me to plot my dominant and
subdominant forms as I needed to use them to frame my focal point. After I had
finished planning the environment I was going to choose I did a lot of research
into references. For example I looked at concept art and real life objects to
give myself an idea of what and how I would need to create my silhouettes.
The process of my piece was to create 10 silhouettes of the
same environment but they all had to be different and I gave them all different
aspects such as past, present and future. After creating my 10 silhouettes I then
choose two of them to create sketch overs of, this is where I started to put in
more detail. Once my sketch overs were completed I then choose one concept to develop
with underpainting and starting to blend colours into my work to make it look
as realistic as possible. Whilst I was creating my 10 silhouettes I used
research tools. For example, I looked at games like horizon zero dawn to get
the robotic monster in an overgrown city that was abandoned. I also looked at
the game the last of us to try and give myself an idea of what an abandoned and
overgrown city would look like. For my other silhouettes I looked at photographs
of forests and trees to try and capture the same aesthetic that they give off
in the images.
In a way I am happy with how my resulting piece turned out
because I didn’t think I would be able to put in that level of detail or get
the saber-tooth tigers to look so realistic. However I wish I could of added
colour to the whole of my piece. I am most proud with how the saber-tooth
tigers turned out because the colour palette is very realistic on them and the
blending of the colours is perfect. I do not think I used all the time I had
effectively because I wasn’t able to completely finish but I now understand how
quick I have to work next time and will take advantage of the opportunities that
are available to me. The game that would fit into my game perfectly would be
far cry primal because it is all about the prehistoric times and that is the time
period that the saber-tooth tigers were alive. The resources I used for my
final piece were effective because I was able to explore my ideas of the route I
wanted to go with my piece and then I could decide on the colour palette I would
use and if there was any changes I would need to make with the piece overall.
If I had more time with this piece I wouldn’t spend as much time doing research
for silhouettes and I would spend more time doing my sketch overs and starting
to add colour.
